For pipe ramming, a pneumatic hammer drives an open-ended steel casing through the ground, after which we remove the soil plug using the approved method. We survey progress, monitor the ground and adjacent assets, weld casing joints to the project procedure, install the carrier pipe on spacers, complete annular treatment where specified, and restore both shafts.

Step 3, The first casing section is treated as a critical control point because a small initial angular error grows over the drive. We independently check track position, lead casing elevation, and heading before committing production. Casing advance, spoil volume, jacking or ramming behaviour, groundwater, and monitoring readings are logged by drive interval.

What Goes Wrong, and How We Prevent It

A trenchless crossing succeeds only when the installed casing reaches the receiving shaft within tolerance without unacceptable movement at the surface. Shafts are kept stable and dry enough for accurate setup. Utility crossings are exposed where required, and exclusion distances are maintained. Casing is inspected as each section is added. A documented response plan covers obstructions, deviation, water inflow, and monitoring movement before work starts.

Refusal is planned as a decision tree, not handled by simply increasing force. The crew records location and response, confirms casing condition and alignment, and applies the accepted obstruction procedure.
